Would you be someone's friend if they paid you?

If you could make enough money to pay all of your bills plus some would you be willing to be someone’s friend? I am not talking about anything sexual or illegal. This is about someone who is either lonely or just needs someone to see a movie with.

If someone moves to a new city for work and doesn’t know anyone or where some good places are in the area this service could be a great benefit. Also, some people are really shy and don’t make friends easily. Although they are paying for you to be there it may turn into a real friendship or it may give someone the confidence to make a friend on their own. I think this is a great idea and could be a great side job or even a full-time job.

If you could make up to $8,000 a month would you be willing to do it?

For many people, I think that they would. This is a job that will not likely feel like a job much. Thank is unless there is someone that annoys you. But let’s assume that you are having fun most of the time. Try to think of it like a blind date that you make money for.

Getting started with RentAFriend

It is easy and free for you to sign up to “be a friend”. The person looking for a friend will pay a fee to the company which is why it is free for you. The fee allows the member to be able to contact anyone signed up as a friend.

RentAFriend does not handle any of the money between you and the member. You will be paid directly by them at the meeting. This means you keep all of the money. It does make it a little awkward to collect the money, do you do it in the beginning or at the end? This is something that they don’t talk about on the site and I looked and couldn’t find anyone who says how they handle it.

It is great that you can charge anything that you want. The low end is $10 an hour and could be as high as $150 an hour. Most are within $20-$50 an hour. I would say that if you are meeting for coffee I would charge less than if you were going to teach them how to dance or a foreign language.

There are a few things to consider when you are meeting someone.

  • Meet at a public place.
  • Drive yourself whenever possible.
  • Don’t go in their house or have them come to your house.
  • You may want to do a background check or at least social media. They should come up in your area since these should be local people. If you don’t find they are local don’t meet them.
  • Always have a cell phone with you and let someone let you know where you will be. You could even have someone call or text you at a set time to check on you if you have any concerns about the person.

This may not be the right job for everyone, but if you think that you are outgoing and adventurous you should give it a shot. If anyone has tried this I would love to hear what your experience was.
