It can happen to the best of us. We think that we are hiding our most valuable possessions from prying eyes and sticky fingers, but things still come up missing. Best case it’s someone you know and you can get it back. Worst case it’s someone you don’t know that broke into your home. Luckily there are some genius ways to hide your valuables.
Yes, some people will know about some of these, but it is far too
1 Hide it the door
This is a phenomenal way to hide cash. No one will ever think to look at the top of a door. Even if they do think about looking here, they will have to check every door in the house and most people will need something to stand on to do it. No one breaking into your home will want to do this. Want to learn how to do it go to Makezine
2 Hollowed out walls
This could be time consuming, but if you are handy and want to attempt it this could be a great way to hide items. You could hide items within hollowed-out/removable things like door jambs, floor panels, window sills, wainscoting and cabinet doors.
3 Inside cans of everyday products
You can get “safes” that look like regular products or make your own. Amazon has many to choose from if you like the easy route. Things like deodorant, cleaning products, candles or even lint rollers. You can also try making them yourself. Things like coffee cans work great.
4 Fake wall outlet
This is something that most people would never think of. Even if they did it would take too long to figure out which one to check and if you put it behind a couch or dresser it would never be found if someone broke into your home. Looking to buy it check Amazon.
5 Everyday cardboard box
This may not seem like a genius idea, but if you mark a box something like summer clothes, stuffed animals or family pictures no one is going to take the time to look through them in the hopes that it may have a valuable in it.
6 Plain sight in your cabinets
The awesome people at lifehacker have a great way to make a safe hiding spot right in plain sight. This will fit a little larger item than some other options and is doable, even for the least handy of us. Learn how to do it.
7 Inside old vacuum with bag
The old style vacuum that uses a bag will be able to hide paperwork easily. It will be overlooked since there is no real value for an old vacuum. No one will steal it to resell, not like a new Dyson. It will have a large cavity to store things and you’ll never forget where you put it.
There is nothing worse than having something stolen from you. Being creative in hiding what is most important and in some cases irreplaceable can help give us peace of mind.
